Meet The Team

Walt Decherd
President
My name is Walt Decherd, and I am President and Founder of RMD Financial Group. WGD Wealth Management, and Apollo Tax Group.
I strive to stay current on developments across multiple industries to best serve you with fresh, accurate and relevant information about potential impacts on finances.
Taxes will most likely be your largest strain on cash flow as you enter retirement. Having a clear understanding of your current tax situation is half the battle while being able to effectively apply tax savings strategies is the other half. I excel at mathematical strategies designed to keep the IRS out of your retirement plan.
Working side – by – side with you, I can successfully reduce taxation in retirement while creating a personal blueprint that maximizes investment tactics while minimizing tax liabilities. I accomplish this by defining your personal financial goals and developing the most efficient tax strategy possible while implementing sequential steps to produce a holistic financial retirement strategy.
Together we will implement the following advantages:
- Innovative retirement resolutions
- Reduced Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
- Tax-free income while reducing tax liabilities
- A comprehensive retirement plan with a tax-savings strategy
When I am away from the office, my wife and I enjoy being around the water, spending time with friends and family, and discovering new ways to enjoy the beach. We are also the proud parents and supporters of our very active teenage daughter who participates in competitive cheer events locally, within the state of Texas, and nationally.
Cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships, I will reveal to you how we can work jointly to temper your financial concerns by implementing a reliable, meaningful, proven, and effective tax strategy to achieve your ultimate retirement goals.

What’s a Risk Score?
Risk tolerance is an investor’s ability to remain invested during downward market cycles in exchange for a potential return.
It’s important that investors understand their risk tolerance so that they can help guide the design of their investment strategy. This approach looks to balance the investor’s desire for returns goals with their ability to stay confident and invested throughout market cycles.
To help investors understand their risk threshold we deploy a proprietary algorithm rooted in the well-known Value at Risk (VaR) measurement that helps us quantify their sentiment toward financial uncertainty, specifically their emotional tolerance with respect to the magnitude and speed of potential investment loss. This Analysis provides them with a VaR Score that can help determine if their existing portfolio aligns with their risk tolerance.
